Cargill expands in Russia, Vietnam

The US-based Cargill concern, which specialises in investment in agriculture and the food indestry, plans to build a $55 million oil extraction plant in the Russian Volgograd region. Talk with Volgograd region Governor Nikolai Maxyuta started at international exhibition fair Green Week in Berlin. A principle agreement was reached on the construcion of an oil extration plant that is one of the largest investment projects in the region. Cargill Yug and the regional administration's agriculture and food committee wil discuss he construction project in the near future. the plant would have capacity to process 400,000-500,000 tonnes of oil seeds per year. The first production line at the plant would include the processing and extraction of oil seeds, while the second line would produce bottled oil. Leftover products could be used as feed. Cargill Vietnam has kicked off the construction of an animal feed processing factory in Thuan Dao Industrial Zone in Ben Luc district, southern Long An province. This is Cargill Vietnam's sixth factory in Vietnam. Initial investment for the factory is put at $12 million. The factory has an annual capacity of 150,000 tonnes of products. Cargill plans to build two to three more factories in Vietnam by 2010.
